This committee seeks to stimulate the deposition of mathematical papers in appropriate archives, and to suggest procedures to assure that material suitable for archives is not lost. The committee also functions to
implement an agreement between the Society and Brown University, overseeing the selection of material with archival value from among records currently held by the Society, and aiding the Brown University
Library in the solicitation and screening of privately held materials of potential archival value.
Expenses of members of the committee in the discharge of their duties may be reimbursed.
Note to the Chair
Committee chairs should be informed, at the beginning of each fiscal period, of the budget of their committees and cautioned to remain within the budget. Such items as travel reimbursement, accommodations, and meals for guests of any kind fall within these budgets.
For the purpose of archiving the committee activities, the Secretary maintains a central file system for archiving committee records. Committee Chairs are asked to submit committee records on yearly basis. Chairs can submit material at their discretion, and some materials that they may wish to provide are meeting minutes, agenda, and emails. Confidential material should be noted, so that it can be handled in a confidential manner.
- The contract between the Society and Brown University was authorized for the Society at the meeting of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of 9-12 May 1985, item 3.11 with att. #24. The committee is a consequence of the contract.
