AMS Web Editorial Group (WEG)

(Dissolved January 2018)

General Description

Principal Activities

To advise officers and AMS staff about the mathematical content of the AMS website. If need be, it also might help with soliciting mathematical content for that website.

Miscellaneous Information

By way of background, the AMS is taking a new perspective on its website, regarding it as more like a free-standing publication, not merely a database of information about the Society. There is a Web Advisory Group (WAG), distinct from this rising WEG and composed of AMS staff members, which already has begun dealing with aspects of this shift. The WEG will supplement efforts of the WAG by focusing on the mathematical content displayed and/or housed on the website.

Note to the Chair

Committee chairs should be informed, at the beginning of each fiscal period, of the budget of their committees and cautioned to remain within the budget. Such items as travel reimbursement, accommodations, and meals for guests of any kind fall within these budgets.

For the purpose of archiving the committee activities, the Secretary maintains a central file system for archiving committee records. Committee Chairs are asked to submit committee records on yearly basis. Chairs can submit material at their discretion, and some materials that they may wish to provide are meeting minutes, agenda, and emails. Confidential material should be noted, so that it can be handled in a confidential manner.
