Louisiana State University to Host Mathematics Meeting

Providence, RI:

Louisiana State University will host the Spring Meeting of the Southeastern Section of the American Mathematical Society March 14-16. Approximately 300 mathematicians from 40 states and 20 countries will gather at the university to present results of their research.

Faculty participation in the meeting:
Ten talks by members of the Louisiana State University Department of Mathematics and four by University faculty from outside the department. Six mathematics faculty members are co-authors of talks.

In addition to presenting or co-authoring talks, 18 mathematics faculty members are organizing sessions on 8 different areas of research. Also, Robert Peck of the School of Music is an organizer of a session titled Mathematical Techniques in Musical Analysis.

Graduate student participation:
Three university mathematics graduate students are giving talks at the meeting.
