Western Kentucky University to Host Mathematics Meeting

Providence, RI—Western Kentucky University will host the 2005 Spring Southeastern Section Meeting of the American Mathematical Society March 18-19. Over 300 mathematicians from 40 states and 16 countries will gather at the University for the meeting.

Department of Mathematics participation in the meeting :

Five talks by faculty in the University’s Department of Mathematics. Those speakers are: David Benko, Daniel C. Biles, Bruce Kessler, Lan Nguyen, and Tom Richmond.

Three mathematics faculty members are co-authors of talks. Co-authors are: Ferhan Merdivenci Atici, Claus Ernst, and Dominic Lanphier.

Twelve mathematics department faculty members are organizing sessions on nine areas of research. Those session organizers are: Ferhan Merdivenci Atici, David Benko, Daniel C. Biles, Claus Ernst, Jens E. Harlander, Bruce Kessler, Dominic Lanphier, Lan Nguyen, Bettina Richmond, Tom Richmond, Heather Russell, and Nilabh Sanat.

Mathematics graduate student participation: Asli Guldurdek and Jamie Johnson are both giving talks at the meeting.

Participation in the meeting by university personnel from outside the Department of Mathematics :

Computer Science: Uta Ziegler is co-author of a talk, and Mustafa Atici is organizing a session.

Economics: Alex Lebedinsky is co-author of a talk being presented at the meeting.
