Enrico Bombieri and Walter Gubler Receive 2008 AMS Doob PrizeJanuary 7, 2008 Providence, RI: Enrico Bombieri of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and Walter Gubler of the University of Dortmund in Germany have received the 2008 AMS Joseph Doob Prize. Presented every three years by the American Mathematical Society, the Doob Prize recognizes a single, relatively recent, outstanding research book that makes a seminal contribution to the research literature, reflects the highest standards of research exposition, and promises to have a deep and long-term impact in its area.
