Georgia Institute of Technology to Host Mathematics Meetings

Providence, RI: Georgia Institute of Technology will host the 2002 American Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of America Spring Southeastern Section Meetings March 8-10. More than 500 mathematicians from 36 states and 12 countries will gather at Georgia Tech either to learn about the latest research or present results of what they've done.

Among the presentations will be 15 by members of the faculty of the School of Mathematics and three by graduate students in the School of Mathematics. In addition, there will five talks given by Georgia Tech faculty from the School of Physics, the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, the College of Computing and the School of Chemical Engineering. There are also five faculty members who are co-authors of presented papers.

Most talks at the meetings are given in gatherings called special sessions. Fifteen members of the School of Mathematics will be serving as organizers of nine of the special sessions at the meetings.
