Courant Institute to Host Mathematics Meeting

March 21, 2003

Providence, RI:

The Courant Institute will host the Spring Meeting of the Eastern Section of the American Mathematical Society April 12-13. Approximately 300 mathematicians from 34 states and 16 countries will gather at the Institute to present results of their research.

Two members of the Institute's Department of Mathematics, Sylvain E. Cappell and Rob Schneiderman, will serve as co-organizers of sessions at the meeting.

Four invited addresses, covering a broad spectrum of pure and applied mathematics, will be given at the meeting, two on each day. The topics of the addresses range from knot theory to the mathematics of financial risk. Each invited address is in the Courant Building, room 109.

More information about the meeting can be found here.
