San Francisco State University to Host Mathematics Meeting

April 10, 2003

Providence, RI:

San Francisco State University will host the Spring 2003 Western Section Meeting of the American Mathematical Society May 3-4. Over 200 mathematicians from 38 states and 17 countries will gather at the University to present results of their research.

San Francisco State Department of Mathematics faculty members Serkan Hosten and Neville Robbins will be giving talks at the meeting. Joseph Gubeladze, who will join the department in the fall, is giving a talk which is co-authored with Hosten.

The talks will be presented in special sessions. There will be 12 special sessions at this meeting, covering many areas of mathematics. Both Hosten and Robbins are serving as session organizers for the meeting.

Four invited addresses on topics ranging from pure mathematics to applications of mathematics in areas such as quantum computation will be given at the meeting, two on each day. Each invited address is in Room 201 of the Science Building.

More information about the meeting can be found here.
