Ronald Graham Receives 2003 AMS Steele Prize

January 16, 2003 PROVIDENCE, RI---Ronald Graham of the University of California, San Diego, is receiving the 2003 AMS Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement. Presented annually by the American Mathematical Society, the Steele Prize is one of the highest distinctions in mathematics. The prize will be awarded today at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore, Maryland. Professor Graham is being honored for his role as one of the principal architects of the rapid worldwide development of the area of discrete mathematics. His talks and his writings have done much to shape the positive public image of mathematical research in the USA, as well as to inspire young people to enter the subject.
