University of South Carolina to Host Mathematics Meeting
Contact: Michael Breen or Annette Emerson February 6, 2001 PROVIDENCE, RI – As part of its Bicentennial Celebration, the University of South Carolina will host the Spring, 2001 Southeastern Sectional Meeting of the American Mathematical Society, March 16 – 18. More than 250 mathematicians from 35 states and 23 countries will gather at the University in Columbia to present latest findings of their research. Among these presentations will be 25 from members of the University’s Department of Mathematics. Sixteen members of the University faculty, fifteen from Mathematics and one from Biological Sciences, and three members of the mathematics faculty of the College of Charleston, have organized sessions on ten different areas of research.
