What is a cookie? A cookie is a small amount of data that is placed on your hard disk through your browser when you are visiting a web site. This cookie file is later used to identify you. You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Consult your browser help for instructions. Certain functions of the AMS web site, including the AMS Web Account Service, depend upon cookies being accepted by your browser. How are cookies used to identify users? Upon entering a section that requires user identification, you will be prompted for a username and password. A cookie is set once you have submitted this information. Setting a cookie will allow the AMS web site to identify you as you browse through different areas of the site that require user identification.
