How do I use the Shopping Cart?
The AMS has developed its own shopping cart ordering system. You may select and add items individually or in batches to submit your order electronically. You may add and delete items at any time before you verify and submit your order.
Is my online order secure?
Yes, the AMS secure checkout system uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology that encrypts transmissions. SSL requires Netscape 2.0 (or higher) or Microsoft 2.0 (or higher).
Are there alternative ordering options?
Yes, please contact our Customer Service Department.
How will I know if an item is not available?
If an item is Out of Stock, one of these messages will appear: This item is Temporarily Out of Stock (with an estimated availability date) or Not Yet Published (with an expected publication date).
Prices, Publication dates and Special Offers
The AMS Bookstore carries up-to-date information on books, journals, and electronic products and services. Information on publication dates, availability of titles, and pricing is updated daily and is subject to change without notice.
Are AMS member prices and special offers available on the AMS Bookstore?
The AMS Bookstore displays the List price, and, if applicable, prices for Institutional Members, Individual Members, and/or All Individuals. Agency Plan Members, Bookstores, Agents, and Distributors should contact the Sales Department at sales@ams.org to establish qualifications for special discounts and terms.
As a benefit of membership, Individual Members (including Institutional Member nominees) receive special discounts on AMS publications. An Individual Member may purchase a single copy of a book at a discount and may purchase one subscription at the discounted rate for personal use. AMS Institutional members are also entitled to discounts. See AMS Membership for more details on member benefits.
What is the Comments box for on the Order checkout screen?
On orders for AMS or AMS-distributed items, please enter information such as your membership in an association other than the AMS, your status as a bookstore, or other customer information that may entitle you to a discount. This is also where you should note special shipping or delivery instructions. Also, individuals who qualify for special offers promoted in AMS printed promotions and who wish to order via the AMS Bookstore should note any special price or discount offer in the Comment box in order to ensure proper fulfillment.
What forms of payment do you accept on the AMS Bookstore?
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards are accepted payment methods for book orders placed on the Bookstore. You can also use your AMS Points on the Bookstore.
What other payment options are available?
See details on all forms of payment accepted by the AMS, including checks, travelers checks, money orders and bank transfers.
If I pay by credit card, when will my card be charged?
Your credit card will be charged upon shipment of the order.
What is a Pro Forma Invoice?
A pro forma invoice is a price quote. You may select this from among the options on the pull-down menu of payment methods on the Order Checkout Screen. If you select this option, a pro forma invoice will be mailed to you.
What are the shipping options within the US, and how long will it take to get my order?
For orders being shipped within the contiguous US*, the standard rates are as follows:
· UPS Standard Ground (7-10 business days) -- $4.50 for the first item and $1.15 for each additional item · UPS 2nd Day Air (2-3 business days) -- $10.75 for the first item and $3.15 for each additional item · UPS Next Day Air (1-2 business days) -- $15.75 for the first item and $4.15 for each additional item
· UPS Standard Ground (7-10 business days) -- $4.50 for the first item and $1.15 for each additional item
· UPS 2nd Day Air (2-3 business days) -- $10.75 for the first item and $3.15 for each additional item

What are the shipping options outside of the US, and how long will it take to get my order?
For orders being shipped outside the US, the standard rates are as follows:
· International Standard Service (14-21 business days*) -- $7.75 for the first item and $2.25 for each additional item · International Expedited Air (3-5 business days*) -- $45.00 for the first item and $7.25 for each additional item · International Other* -- This service is quoted on a per order basis based on destination country and available delivery methods and customs requirements. What if my order includes multiple items, each with different availability?
Items will be shipped to you as they become available, and usual per item/per additional item charges will be applied, depending on the shipping options chosen. Full shipping charges will be assessed at the time the first shipment is made. For example, if you order three items by Standard Ground shipping in the US, with two items in stock and one available in three weeks, the two items in stock will ship immediately and you will be charged $5.50 ($4.00 for the first item, and .75 each for the two additional items). The expected availability of your third item will be noted on your packing slip. When the third item is available, it will be shipped at no additional charge.
Are special shipping options available?

Do I need to pay sales tax?
5% GST will be applied to orders from Canadian residents.
How are customs fees handled?
Shipping costs do not include duty fees, taxes, or clearing charges levied by the destination country. The AMS recommends that you contact your local customs office if you would like more information on customs duties in your country.
Where can I buy AMS books in N. America?
There is a network of bookstores in N. America that carry AMS publications. Most bookstores will place a special order for you.
Where can I buy AMS books outside of N. America?
Customers outside N. America may request price information from and direct their orders to the appropriate international distributor. AMS Individual Member discounts are available only from Eurospan Group or directly from the AMS.
Are AMS and AMS-distributed book series available on Standing Order?
Yes, for most series. The AMS encourages libraries to enroll in Standing Order Plans to ensure that mathematical science collections feature the most current publications. There are many benefits to having an AMS Standing Order. For more information, please contact our Customer Service Department at cust-serv@ams.org.
How do I subscribe to an AMS or AMS-distributed journal?
Subscriptions to AMS journals are sold on a calendar-year basis (January to December) and must be prepaid in US funds. Individual members may purchase one subscription at the discounted rate for personal use only. Also, see AMS Electronic Journals and Special Subscription Offers.
For electronic journal subscriptions: Please note that a signed AMS Electronic Journals Online Subscription Agreement is required for all electronic journal subscriptions.
What is the AMS' return policy ?
The AMS makes every effort to fulfill orders in a timely fashion and with quality care. However, if you need to return an item or submit a claim, please read the AMS policy regarding returns and claims.
