Lisa Bernstein
Mathematics/Statistics Courses:
- Linear Algebra (with an applied bent, e.g., Strang's "Linear Algebra & Its Applications)
- Numerical Analysis/Methods (esp. ODE, PDE and linear algebra)
- Ordinary Differential Equations (Hirsch/Smale level)
- Partial Differential Equations
- Something with Fourier theory
- Stochastic processes
- A graduate level "applied math" course would be nice (e.g. Stakgold,
Keener or Strang's "Introduction to Applied Mathematics")
Statistics Courses:
- Graduate-level Applied Statistics
- Biostatistics
- Some introduction to Experimental Design
Non-mathematics Courses:
- Biochemistry (and prerequisites)
- Introductory molecular biology
- A programming course that emphasizes programming style and team programming
- A programming course that teaches the popular language of the day (e.g. C++ or Java right now): to give you a chance at a good summer job or a foot in the door at a company that doesn't realize how useful mathematicians can be)
- Signal and/or image processing
- As much chemistry and physics as possible
