Billing and Payment Information

For a fast, convenient way to pay for your listing . . .Pay by Credit Card!!!

You don't have to wait for an invoice to pay for an EIMS job listing. The EIMS Employment Listing Submission Form allows you to pay by credit card.

Credit card payments are usually processed within 3 business days and a receipt is sent to advertisers as proof of payment.

If you choose not to pay by credit card, you will be billed later. If your listing appears in multiple issues, you will receive one invoice after the print listing expires.

EIMS Electronic-Only Listings are normally billed 4 to 6 weeks after they are posted.

Word Counts

Any group of two or more adjacent alphanumeric characters is counted as one word.

Examples: The word "an" counts as one word, but the word "a" does not. The word "and" counts as one word, but the "&" symbol does not.

Submission Instructions

The AMS requests that all advertisers use the EIMS Employment Listing Submission Form to submit their listings. We are no longer accepting EIMS job listings submitted by fax or email.

Advertisers can easily access the submission form, view all the listing options, and make informed decisions about placement, content, and cost. The numerous steps involved in submitting, tracking, and paying for a job listing are consolidated on this one form.

Using this form advertisers can:

  • Make listings viewable on the Web within 2 business days OR delay the Web posting to a later date.
  • Post the listing to the Web and include it in print or post to the Web only.
  • Include, at no additional charge, a link from the job listing to another website that provides further information about the position or institution.
  • Classify listings by employer type, type of position, subject area, and geographic location; job seekers can search the listings by one or more of these fields.
  • Receive an email confirmation message as a record of when the listing was submitted; the confirmation message includes a job listing ID number and an exact price quote.
  • Use the job listing ID number (included in the email confirmation message) to make changes to the listing at no additional charge.
  • Include any important contact information, special billing addresses, and purchase or insertion order numbers in the Additional Information field on the form.
  • Pay by credit card.

Delayed Posting Option

Job listings that are submitted electronically via the EIMS Employment Listing Submission Form are posted to the website on the date that you have chosen. The Delayed Posting option on the submission form allows you to delay the Web posting to a later date.

Example: If you are submitting an advertisement in mid-August to meet the print deadline for the October issue but do not wish to have your listing appear on the Web until October 1:

1. Click on "October" on the EIMS submission form as the issue month of the publication.

2. Then use the Delayed Web Posting Option pull-down menu to indicate October 1.

Deadlines for Printed Issues and Flyers

Although listings can be posted to the EIMS website at any time, please check the Publication Schedule and Listing Rates to ensure that you are submitting your listing in time for a particular print deadline.

IMPORTANT!!!

The Final Submit Button

After you type your listing on the EIMS Employment Listing Submission Form, click on the Submit Employment Listing button at the bottom of the form.

Your listing will be displayed on a confirmation screen. Here you can read over your listing and go back to make any changes if necessary. After you have reviewed the listing, BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE FINAL SUBMIT button at the bottom of the confirmation screen.

After you click on Final Submit, you should receive a confirmation email message almost immediately. The message will contain the text of your listing, along with an EMPLOYMENT LISTING ID number and your RETURN EMAIL address. When your ad is posted (within 2 business days of submission), you will receive another email stating that the ad is publicly viewable.

VERY IMPORTANT!

If you don't receive a confirmation email message, send email to eims-info@ams.org or call 1-800-321-4267, ext. 4190, as soon as possible.

Checking and Printing Web Listings

Please be sure to check to ensure that your listing has been posted to the website, either after 2 business days or on the date that you have chosen the listing to appear.

Print a copy of the Web listing for your records. When a listing expires, it is removed from the website and cannot be retrieved at a later time.

Revising Employment Listings

You can revise an Employment Listing using the EIMS Employment Listing Revision Form. You must have the Employment Listing ID Number and Return E-mail address to revise an employment listing. The identifier number is contained in the employment listing confirmation mail.

If you have misplaced the Employment Listing ID number, send email to eims-info@ams.org or call 1-800-321-4267, ext. 4190.

Deleting Employment Listings

Listings are automatically removed from the EIMS website at the end of their 60-, 120-, or 180-day contract terms unless you choose to delete them sooner or extend the listings.

If you need to delete your listing before its expiration date, use the EIMS Employment Listing Deletion Form . You will need the Employment Listing Identifier number and the Return e-mail address for authorization before you are given access to delete an Employment Listing.

Extending Employment Listings You can extend an Employment Listing via the Employment Listing Revision Form. You will need to enter the Employment Listing Identifier number and the Return e-mail address for authorization before you are given access to extend an Employment Listing.

Search Options

There are two search options on the EIMS Employment Listing Search Form.

The first search option is either a browse of all the employment listings or a display of those posted in the last 14 days. You can sort the listings by posting date or by application deadline.

The second search option is a search of the entire EIMS Employment Listing database with a combination of keywords and search fields.

You can search on one or more of the following search fields: institution/company name, employer type, type of position, subject area, geographic location, or job description. It is not necessary to fill in every field to conduct a search. In fact, since these search fields restrict the search, it is better to leave a field blank or select "Other".

The institution/company field should be searched with quotes around the keywords for an exact match. For instance, the search Purdue University will retrieve all the postings for the word "purdue" and all of the postings for the word "university." However, the search "purdue university" in quotes will retrieve the postings for Purdue University only.

The "Search the job description" option searches the job description by keyword. The same rules apply for the use of quotes in this field. To retrieve an exact match, the keywords must be surrounded by quotes. Otherwise, the search software will assume an "OR" between the keywords. such as Purdue or University. Be sure to use quotes as in "Purdue University" for an exact match.

AMS Policy for Employment Advertisements

While the American Mathematical Society (AMS) does not screen ads for compliance, the Society expects all institutions posting advertisements in AMS publications to comply with the equal opportunity laws that apply in the jurisdictions in which they are located. Federal law prohibits employers in the United States from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age or disability. Applicants should be aware that institutions outside of the United States may not be legally bound to conform to these or similar requirements, and are advised to inform themselves of conditions that may exist at the institutions to which they apply. The AMS reserves the right to reject any advertisement.

The AMS strongly supports equal opportunity in employment. Despite increasing participation at many levels, low rates of retention and promotion of women and underrepresented minorities remain a serious concern, particularly at doctoral-granting institutions. Therefore, AMS members, both individual and institutional, are urged to examine frequently their policies and procedures to see in what ways they may facilitate careers in mathematics research for women and underrepresented minorities.
