Graduate Student Travel Grants to 2009 JMM
Deadline October 27, 2008
The AMS, with funding from a private gift, is accepting applications for partial travel support for graduate students attending the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Washington, DC, January 5 - 8, 2009. The awards, not to exceed US$500, must be matched by travel funds from the student's institution. It is expected that awards will be made early in December, 2008. Funding is provided on a reimbursement basis.
This program is open to full time graduate students (in good standing) in a mathematical sciences department at a North American institution. A form to be signed by a representative of the department, agreeing to matching funding, will be part of the application package. Applications will be evaluated by a panel of mathematical scientists.
The deadline for submitting applications was October 27, 2008, and the application period is now closed. Awards or decline notifications will be made by email in early December, 2008.
Please note that actual expenses only will be reimbursed (after the meeting) at 50% up to a maximum of US$500. Those who receive awards will be given travel vouchers to submit after the travel is concluded. Any meeting attendee must complete and pay for a meeting registration as usual, and in fact the meeting registration fees will not be reimbursable under this grant.
All information about the Joint Mathematics Meetings can be found in the Meetings section of the AMS web site. This travel grant program is being administered by:
