AMS Congressional Fellow Named Legislative Director for Congressman Bob Etheridge (D-NC)

 David Weinreich, AMS Congressional Fellow 2005-06

David Weinreich, the first AMS Congressional Fellow (2005-2006) has been named Legislative Director in the office of Congressman Bob Etheridge (NC-2).   David is a Ph.D. mathematician who served his fellowship in the office of Congressman Robert Andrews (D-NJ).  Subsequently, he was hired as a legislative assistant in the office of Congressman Etheridge.

In his new role as Legislative Director, David will be responsible for Congressman Etheridge's legislative agenda, overseeing legislative staff and making policy recommendations.  He will also be the primary speech writer for the Congressman.  He will continue to be the contact for education, science and technology, and homeland security issues for the Congressman as well.

The second district of North Carolina has a number of higher education institutions including NC State University, Fayetteville State University, Campbell University, Methodist University, Shaw University, Louisburg College, NC Wesleyan College and several community colleges.
