Question 1: On the top of my wish list is the ability to look at a problem or situation and recognize when it can be modeled mathematically.

Question 2: Given my answer to 1, I believe that students need a wide variety of modeling examples and experiences in high school in order to gain that insight.

Question 3: Again, assessment needs to be based on giving students problems which require them to put problems in mathematical terms, especially settings which require a mix of algebra, geometry, and data analysis.

Question 4: Inquisitiveness and a desire to learn--a willingness to face new problems in new settings.

Question 5: My father was a high school mathematics teacher and he constantly challenged me with problems.
