The American Mathematical Society (AMS) uses the TeX formatting language to typeset its publications. In addition, the AMS offers two TeX-related style file collections, AMS-LaTeX and AMS-TeX, which provide easy ways to code manuscripts that contain mathematical expressions. In an effort to shorten the time needed to publish articles and reduce the price of publications, the AMS has developed AMS-LaTeX and AMS-TeX author packages which include documentation and instructions, publication-specific style files, and examples. NOTE: These author packages do not include the underlying AMS-LaTeX or AMS-TeX collections, which must be obtained separately. AMSFonts may also be needed. DocumentationDocumentation for author packages consists of two booklets, the AMS Author Handbook, and Instructions for Preparation of Papers and Monographs. The Author Handbook contains general instructions for submitting manuscripts in both electronic and paper form, how to obtain the AMS author packages, and a checklist for electronic submissions. The Instructions manual contains guidance on structuring manuscripts and using the author packages and other available tools to produce a work that conforms to the specifications for AMS publications. These booklets are available separately, for either AMS-LaTeX, or AMS-TeX Both booklets are also included in every author package. Packages for specific publicationsAll journals have specific author packages that can be found starting from the journal's home page or from www.ams.org/tex/author-info.html. The author package for each publication contains READ.ME files, Instructions, and an Author Handbook, as well as style files, topmatter templates, samples, and supplementary instructions. The Author Handbook contains instructions for retrieving and printing those files. NOTE: If you are installing both AMS-LaTeX and AMS-TeX files, install them in separate directories. They may contain identical filenames which will overwrite one another if they are in the same directory. |
