Abstract:

Here we show for many $n,d$ (with $n \geq 6$) that the general set formed by $d$ points in ${{\mathbf {P}}^n}$ is not the hyperplane section of an integral projectively normal curve in ${{\mathbf {P}}^{n + 1}}$.
