A Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival
The American Mathematical Society was pleased to co-sponsor a free local mathematics event for children and adults of all ages: a Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival at Pleasant View Elementary School on Thursday, April 10, 2025, 5:00p.m-7:00p.m.. Together with City Year Providence volunteers it was an evening of play and problem-solving with a variety of fun, hands-on mathematical puzzles and games.
Named for the esteemed mathematician (and the first female president of the AMS), a Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival (JRMF) is an event with mathematical puzzles, games, and activities that empower students to explore math, understand concepts with hands-on activities, and build their confidence overall with mathematics. Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival activities are designed for children and adults of all ages and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome!
We were thrilled that RI Governor Dan McKee, Providence Schools Superintendent Javier Montañez, RI Teacher of the Year Milissa O'Neil, representatives from RI Department of Education, City Year Executive Director Nirva LaFortune, and JRMF Executive Director Daniel Kline were also able to join us!
