Abstract.
The global solution to the one-dimensional Euler-Poisson equations of two-carrier types is constructed by the fractional Godunov method. The compensated compactness framework is applied to prove the convergence of the approximate solutions. Some sharp form of the uniform estimate is made to overcome the difficulties due to the coupling terms. The existence of the global weak entropy solution with arbitrarily large initial data is established.
