A monotoneity property of the gamma function

Abstract:

In this paper we obtain a monotoneity property for the gamma function that yields sharp asymptotic estimates for $\Gamma (x)$ as $x$ tends to $\infty$, thus proving a conjecture about $\Gamma (x)$.
