"Juggling Act: A Profile of Ronald L. Graham," by John Horgan. Scientific American, March 1997, pages 28-29.
Ronald L. Graham is a juggler, gymnast, and a polyglot---not to mention a mathematician. A prodigious worker who sits on the editorial boards of 40 journals, Graham's main jobs are as chief scientist at AT&T Labs--Research and as part-time mathematics professor at Rutgers University. One of his main mathematical interests is Ramsey theory, which according to Graham takes as its guiding philosophy the notion that "complete disorder is impossible." This engaging article provides a glimpse of Graham's life and work.
