"Math as a Secret Decoder of Markets and Mysticism": Review of the movie Pi. Reviewed by Stephen Holden. New York Times, 3 April 1998.
The movie Pi, a "zany spoof of the Frankenstein myth," presents a character who is obsessed with trying to prove that the movements of the stock market are mathematically predictable. His obsession leads him to shave his head in order to plug his brain into a computer. Holden appreciates some of the ideas presented in the film but found that its low-tech camera work and editing made it "awfully hard to watch."
