"Monge's Maths, Hummel's Highlights", by Martin Kemp. Science and Image, Nature, 15 October 1998, page 649.
This article discusses the impact that the 19th century French mathematician Gaspard Monge had on perspective drawing. His work deeply influenced technical drawing, but few artists followed his ideas. One exception was Johann Hummel, who excelled in perspectival views. The occasion for the article is an exhibition entitled "Mirror Image", at the National Gallery in London until 13 December 1998.
