"Picking up the Pieces: Science assembling a virtual look at life," by Sue Goetinck Ambrose. Dallas Morning News, 11 September 2000.
"Biology may be at its own new dawn" as biologists are seeking to simulate life on computers just as aerospace engineers have used computers to simulate flight. Using mathematical equations and computers, biological researchers are beginning to understand the progress of evolution, the sturdiness of bacteria and how genes and proteins in the brain collaborate to create memory. Eventually, biologists hope to test therapies by using mathematics and computers instead of animals.
