Reviews of The Mystery of the Aleph, by Amir Aczel. Reviewed by Richard Bernstein, New York Times, 15 Novemeber 2000, and by Laurence A. Marschall, The Sciences, November/December 2000.

In The Mystery of the Aleph, Amir Aczel describes Georg Cantor's struggle to understand the infinite---a struggle that ended in his insanity. Laurence Marschall describes the book as "poignant," "an expert guide on Cantor's voyage to the far reaches of abstraction." Richard Bernstein, while fascinated by the story, suggests the book may not be for everyone: "Too often, Mr. Aczel races so quickly through difficult concepts that I suspect many readers will feel left behind."
