"Columbia U. math prof lends hand in new Russell Crowe film," by Alice Iosifescu. Columbia Daily Spectator, 28 November 2001.

Barnard College math professor David Bayer was the math consultant for A Beautiful Mind, a film about mathematician John Forbes Nash, Jr., winner of the 1994 Nobel Prize for establishing the "game theory" of economics. In addition to advising the filmmakers and actors about mathematics and Nash, Bayer "acted" as Crowe's hand double, and "helped set up scenes in which the actors played two board games, one of which Nash invented."
