"Wolfram speaking here on claim to have discovered new kind of science," by Byron Spice. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 30 September 2002.
This article talks about the Stephen Wolfram's controversial new book A New Kind of Science and the reaction he has received to it. Spice puts Wolfram's main idea this way: "Simple rules can result in great complexity, he said, and nature can best be described as a set of simple computer programs, rather than the mathematical equations prized by most scientists." Some interviewed for the article are impressed by his accomplishments, others are skeptical.
