"Constant Companion": Review of Gamma: Exploring Euler's Constant, by Julian Havil. Reviewed by Ben Longstaff. New Scientist, 19 July 2003, page 51.
There have been books about pi and about i, the square root of minus one. This is a book about one of those numbers' less famous but no less fascinating brethren called gamma. "Although the maths is at upper-undergraduate level, Havil's emphasis on historical context and his conversational style make this a pleasure to read," the reviewer writes. "Anyone with a serious interest in maths will find it richly rewarding."
