"Music and Mathematics as 2 Aspects of One Thing," by Timothy Ferris. New York Times, 7 June 1995.
This is a review of the book Emblems of Mind: The Inner Life of Music and Mathematics, by Edward Rothstein, chief music critic of the New York Times. The book explores connections between music and mathematics, including similarities in the appreciation of beauty in each and in the mysterious processes of artistic and mathematical invention. Ferris calls the book "one of the most intelligible popular accounts of mathematical thought to have been published in recent years."
