Associate secretary: Accommodations Participants should make their own arrangements directly with a hotel
of their choice. Special rates for the meeting are available at the properties
listed below for the nights of Thursday and Friday, March 11 and 12; for
those needing a Saturday night stay over, a very limited number
of rooms are available, so make your reservations early. Room rates do
not include the tax of 10.5%. When making reservations, participants should
state that they are with the American Mathematical Society meeting
at Florida State University. The AMS is not responsible for rate changes
or for the quality of the accommodations. Hotels have varying cancellation

Activities
Book Sales: Examine the newest titles from the AMS! Complimentary
coffee will be served courtesy of AMS Membership Services. The AMS Book
Sale will operate during the same hours as registration.
AMS Editorial Activity: An acquisitions editor from the AMS Book
Program will be present to speak with prospective authors. If you have
a book project that you would like to discuss with the AMS, please stop
by the book exhibit.
Registration
and Meeting Information
All Special Sessions and contributed paper sessions will take place in
the Rovetta Business Building on the Florida State University campus.
Plenary lectures will take place in Moore Auditorium, across the green
from Rovetta. N.B.: The rear of Rovetta faces the street/parking; the
entrance is on the opposite side of the building; enter from the green.
Registration will take place in the Weichelt Lounge in Rovetta on Friday
from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Registration
fees are \$40 for AMS or CMS members; \$60 for nonmembers; and \$5 for students/unemployed/emeritus,
payable on site by cash, check, or credit card.
Parking
Parking in student spaces (white spaces) is permitted for free during
spring break (check the map links above which show available parking lots);
large parking areas are across West Tennessee St. near DeGraff Hall. Parking
in faculty/staff spaces (red spaces) is by permit only on Friday; free
on Saturday. There is various white and red parking along Palmetto Drive,
the access road to Rovetta from West Tennessee St. Any places marked "Visitor
Parking" are free both days.
If you park in a red space on Friday, please come to the registration
area to pick up a parking permit, which then must be placed on your car.
Parking permits are generously being provided by the Department of Mathematics.
Social
Events
All participants are invited to a reception on Friday evening from 6:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m., sponsored by the FSU Department of Mathematics. The
reception will be held in the courtyard in front of Moore Auditorium.
The FSU Department of Mathematics is also providing pastry on Friday
and Saturday mornings. The AMS thanks the department for its hospitality.
Travel
By Air: Tallahassee is serviced via air by its regional airport,
located approximately five to six miles from the conference hotels. Taxi
services are available at the airport; fare is about \$10.
By Car: Interstate access to Tallahassee is via Interstate 10.
Exit I-10 at the North Monroe Street Exit (#199) and proceed south on
N. Monroe for a couple of miles to Tennessee Street. Take a right at Tennessee
and go west for one mile to Dewey Street. Take a left on Dewey and an
immediate right on Palmetto. The Rovetta Business Building and Student
Union Complex are almost immediately to the left. The Rovetta Business
Building is within a mile of the reserved hotels.
Car Rental: Special rates have been negotiated with Avis Rent
A Car for the period March 5March 20, 2004, beginning at \$35.99/day
for a subcompact car at the weekend rate (the weekend rate is available
from noon Thursday until Monday at 11:59 p.m.). All rates include unlimited
free mileage. Rates do not include state or local surcharges, tax, optional
coverages, or gas refueling charges. Renter must meet Avis's age, driver,
and credit requirements, and return to the same renting location. Make

Weather
The climate in the Tallahassee area is pleasant in the spring. The normal
temperatures for mid-March are highs in the 70s (F) and early morning
lows in the 50s (F).
