AMS Nominee Membership

Help with Networking

Now that you are entering the mathematical sciences profession, you will want to meet others with similar interests and concerns.

AMS Sectional Meetings and National Meetings (the January "Joint Mathematics Meetings") offer the latest in mathematical research and ideas, and provide numerous networking opportunities.

The Notices of the AMS, which you will receive by mail eleven times per year, contains information about upcoming mathematics conferences and events, held all over the world. It also keeps you up to date in mathematical news, book reviews, funding sources, visiting mathematicians, and data on the mathematical community.  BE SURE AND VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS IN YOUR AMS MEMBERSHIP RECORD SO THAT YOU CAN RECEIVE YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS.  The AMS will not mail subscriptions to Nominee members without your verification.  See the member update page.

Create a member log-in to the AMS web site today so that you can request your free paper subscriptions to the member journal, Notices and Bulletin.

AMS Graduate Student Blog is a new blog by and for math graduate students, managed by Frank Morgan.

Help for Job Seekers

The AMS offers several programs to assist those who are seeking their first professional position. Job ads from the AMS web site can be delivered to you in email weekly. The Notices of the AMS also contain employment ads. (Note that the Notices ads and the web site ads are not the same set. Check out both!)

There is an annual job-interviewing program held each January at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, called the Employment Center.  Be sure to register by October.

The AMS coversheet is a standardized data sheet used as an attachment to academic job applications.

MathJobs.Org is an automated job application system in mathematics. It is free to applicants.

Help for Authors

As your research progresses and you prepare to publish scholarly work in mathematics, many questions will arise. Check out these AMS web resources for help.

Helping You in the Classroom

As your teaching role increases and you begin to search for resources for your own students, you can look to the AMS for help. Our public awareness efforts offer news, posters and events that make mathematics come alive for your students. Our summer program guides can help gifted students find the right opportunities.

Looking for  student activities? Check out local math club web pages on our web site. Plan a Math Awareness Month event. Or, organize a "Pi Day" celebration on March 14.  Opportunities for group volunteer efforts may appear from time to time on this web page.
