"Nobelpreis fuer Quatsch". Unsigned article, Der Spiegel, 24 August 1998, pages 104-105. In German.

This article discusses the International Congress of Mathematicians, held in Berlin, Germany in August 1998. In particular, it refers to the work of four mathematicians who at the Congress received the highest honor in mathematics, the Fields Medal: Richard Borcherds, William Timothy Gowers, Maxim Kontsevich, and Curtis McMullen. The Fields Medal is often said to be the equivalent in mathematics of the Nobel Prize. The title of the article---in English, "Nobel Prize for Nonsense"---provides an indication of the tone of the article.
