In this brief review, Gardner saysthat Flatterland "is essentially a work about mathematics cleverlydisguised as a fantasy sequel to Edwin Abbott's classic Flatland." Thedevice of the novel "allows Stewart to introduce an awesome variety of dazzlingtopics that include not only pure mathematics but also the latest speculationsof physicists and cosmologists," Gardner writes.
