The finalists in the Intel Scence Talent Search were honored March 11 in Washington, D.C. The top prize, a US$100,000 scholarship, went to Janice Elyce Rubin of Fort Myers, Florida. Two mathematics projects were among the top six honorees: Anatoly Preygel of Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland won third prize for his project on knots, and Lester Wayne Mackey of Half Hollow Hills High School West in New York received sixth prize for his project on graphs. Preygel received a US$50,000 scholarship, while Mackey's scholarship is for US$25,000.
