On September 4 Stephen Wolfram testified for one hour before a hearing of theU.S. Senate Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space regarding his "newkind of science" and how it might benefit physics, biology, and nanotechnology.Wolfram was invited by Sam Brownback (R, KS), chair of the subcommittee and theonly member at the hearing. Currently it is not clear which agency would fundthe research but Brumfiel writes that Brownback said that Wolfram's work "couldhave enormous potential," and "If it's right, then the government should beinvesting in it."
