Homological Sensor Networks

Vin de Silva and Robert Ghrist

A sensor network is an array of detection devices, or nodes, which can communicate with nearby sensors, lying in a fixed compact connected plane domain with connected piecewise-linear boundary. The nodes themselves can move. Each node connects in a radially symmetric domain. The authors use applied computational topology, in particular homology theory, to study holes in the coverage network. (pp. 10)
