SCUDEM IV 2019 - SIMIODE Challenge Using Differential Equation Modeling

Contests and Competitions / Pre-college students and teachers, Undergraduate students, Mathematical scientists/faculty

SCUDEM IV 2019 – SIMIODE Challenge Using Differential Equation Modeling will take place at home institutions of three student member teams during the week of 1 – 8 November 2019.

We are seeking local site host coordinators through 1 September 2019. See https://www.simiode.org/scudem/2019/hosting for details.

On Challenge Saturday, 9 November 2019, teams will assemble at nearby local sites around the United States and beyond to incorporate an additional feature in their model and present their results while faculty participate in a workshop on using modeling to motivate and teach differential equations. Registration opens on 1 September 2019.

See complete details at www.simiode.org/scudem, including all past problems, all student submissions, all past local sites, MathBowls, Faculty Development materials, local host guide book, and much more.

If your school wishes to become a local site for SCUDEM IV 2019 then please contact Director@simiode.org. There is a stipend for host schools of one half the registration fees of visiting teams of $100/team and faculty coach for each local site. There are no costs for schools in developing countries. We are accepting applications for local site host coordinators through 1 August 2019, but sooner is better.

SCUDEM IV 2019 is sponsored by SIMIODE - Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which is funded by the National Science Foundation.
