Former AMS Fellow Now Permanent Congressional Staff

Jeffry Phan, the most recent AMS Congressional Fellow (2007-2008), has accepted a position in the office of Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM),  Chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee.  Jeffry completed his fellowship in the office of Senator Bingaman and will now serve on his permanent staff as a Legislative Assistant.

Jeffry earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Columbia University after completing his thesis on order properties of monomial ideals and their free resolutions. He was a teaching fellow with Columbia University's Science and Math Partnership and worked as an assistant professor of mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

In his new position, Jeffry handles trade policy,foreign policy, and various special projects for Senator Bingaman.
