Abstract: We give a short proof of the tilting theorem by Happel, Reiten and Smalø: two abelian categories $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ are derived equivalent, provided that $\mathcal{B}$ is tilted from $\mathcal{A}$ .
