Bankers use the terms "rocket scientists" and "quant jocks" to describe people employed to do mathematical modeling and forecasting. Currently, such enviable careers are widespread for people with mathematical ability, and not only in the field of finance. Mathematicians are sought after in operations research, accountancy, and statistics as well.
