"Are you ready for the revolution?," by Declan Butler. Nature, 15February 2001.
The recent completion of draft genome databases has put bioinformatics into theforefront of biological research. Many biologists think that this mix ofcomputational methods and mathematical modeling will be knowledge as importantas traditional lab skills. According to David Jones of the University ofWarwick, Britain, some biologists are already having their grant proposalsturned down because they lack a bioinformatics component. A significantquestion is how to educate researchers in bioinformatics, both in the short andlong term.
