Theories of differential equations, stochasticprocesses, and dynamical systems have helped biologists make sense of processesas diverse as cell division, molecular interaction, and neuronal calcium waves.Recent breakthrough studies integrating mathematics with experimental data haveovercome the biological community's view that mathematics is irrelevant tobiology.
