Ian Stewart may be the world's most famous mathematics popularizer writing inEnglish---next to, of course, the legendary Martin Gardner, who here reviewsStewart's latest book *Flatterland.* In this brief review, Gardner saysthat *Flatterland* "is essentially a work about mathematics cleverlydisguised as a fantasy sequel to Edwin Abbott's classic *Flatland.*" Thedevice of the novel "allows Stewart to introduce an awesome variety of dazzlingtopics that include not only pure mathematics but also the latest speculationsof physicists and cosmologists," Gardner writes.
