"Boost for terascale computer research," News in Brief, Nature, 23 August 2001.
The U.S. Department of Energy announces plans to support 51 researchprojects that will cost US$57 million in the first year alone. The ScientificDiscovery through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) initiative will developsoftware for researchers to run simulations on terascale computers that cancarry out up to a trillion operations per second. Among the applicationswill be work in climate modeling and fluid dynamics.
