"Playing by quantum rules," by Erica Klarreich. Nature, 15 November 2001.
"Game theory has been used to study problems from nuclear warfare to animalbehavior. Now physicists are extending it into the quantum realm, opening a newrange of potential applications," the article says. One application would beto devise an algorithm that would allow a quantum computer to factor numbersmuch more efficiently than a "classical" computer; another would createalgorithms---rephrase games---that would "compete" to find a particular entryin a database, for instance.
