"Maths makes moveson cells," by Sara Abdulla. Nature Science Update, 19 February2002.
Abdulla writes of work by Alex Mogliner, "one of a growing band ofmathematicians turning their equations onto intractable problems of cellbiology." The problem in this case is cell motion. Mogliner presented his modelof worm sperm motion in February 2002 at the annual meeting of the AmericanAssociation for the Advancement of Science. Although only a few of thevariables connected with cell motion are included in Mogliner's model, Abdullareports that the model has a "remarkable tally with reality." A movie of themotion accompanies the article at the website.
