"Drawing to a Close," by Peter Monaghan. The Chronicle of Higher Education, 9April 2004, pages A14-A16.
This article is about New Zealand architect Mark Burry's efforts to fnishAntoni Gaudí i Carnet's Sagrada Família in Barcelona. The SagradaFamília is an enormous church with huge spires, which has remainedincomplete since Gaudí's death in 1926. The work is so complicated thatconventional architectural software is not sophisticated enough for Burry'swork. There isn't much mathematics in the article, but there are occasionalreferences to geometry and the article does mention some of the quadricsurfaces.
