The American Mathematical Society, Mathematical Association of America, Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, National Association of Mathematicians, and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics have undertaken a joint project to maintain a record of the professional interests of mathematicians and mathematics educators from underrepresented minority groups. We would like to invite you to participate.

Many organizers of events in the mathematics and mathematics education communities are sensitive to the importance of diversity among the participants. They find it difficult to achieve that diversity, however, because they often do not know everyone who should be contacted to participate. We hope to address that problem with this project.

The detailed information maintained in this record will be kept confidential by the participating organizations. Information from the record will be made available to organizers of events and other activities within the mathematical communities, particularly those sponsored by the five participating organizations, but the only information supplied will be a subset of the record giving contact information for persons whose interests would indicate that they might wish to participate in that particular event or activity. Information from the list will not be made available to anyone for commercial use. Though some demographic information will be maintained within the record, this will not be included in the information provided to event and activity organizers. The reason for keeping such information in the record itself is to help us verify that we are reaching all groups who should be reached by this effort.

We would like to ask you to help us with this project by filling out the accompanying form. We hope that you will participate, so that we can help assure that mathematics conferences and other activities can become more inclusive and representative of the diverse communities participating in mathematics.

We emphasize again that the detailed information kept in this record will be kept confidential, with organizers receiving only names and contact information for those whose interests indicate that they should be asked to participate.
